Creating a wave

A wave is a given point in time from which all the official times of the participants assigned to that wave are calculated.

ℹ️ Note: no time will be computed for any participant who has an assigned wave that has not been started. Each participant has a start time mode; by default, by wave. More information in Start time mode selector - wave type.

Waves are created within an event, in the Waves block of its configuration.

1. Ways to create waves

In the event's Waves block you can create waves in several ways:

  • One by one, with the + Add button.
  • Several at once, with the Create option in the block's action menu. Enter how many waves you want, a name prefix (optional; the waves are numbered: “Wave 1”, “Wave 2”…), the interval in minutes between them and the time of the first wave (by default, the event date).
  • By importing them from another race that you already have in Copernico, with the Import option. Imported waves arrive as not started.
  • By moving them from another event of the same race, with the edit options Cut, Copy and Paste.

The Clear option removes all the waves from the list.

2. Wave information

Complete the wave information:

  • Wave name (required): if you have more than one wave, choose a name that tells them apart.
  • Start date and time (required): it defaults to the time of the event's last wave or, for the first one, the event date. The time can be approximate, since on race day you can modify it when you start the wave: clicking Start saves the actual time. More information in Starting a race from Copernico.

ℹ️ Note: in Live, if the start time has already passed and the wave has not been started, the counter will stay at 0:00 waiting for the wave.

3. Deleting a wave

You can delete a wave by clicking on the trash can icon.

The event's waves are now created and ready to be started on race day.
