Types of timing points

Checkpoints refer to each of the times taken from an athlete during a race. The number of checkpoints may or may not coincide with the number of locations.   

There are 4 types of checkpoints available: Start, Finish, Standard and Call Camera. Combining the different types will allow you to set up any race.  

All events must have at least 2 splits: a START type and a FINISH type.   

There is no limit to the number of checkpoints you can create.  

 

 

Distinct characteristics of each type of checkpoint are the following: 

START 

  • There must always be a starting point, even if it has no location. For example, a triggered starting point. Only one point of this type can exist in each event.  
  • It will always use the last recorded reading.  
  • In copérnico, it wil always be the first checkpoint in the setup table. 
  • If you have readings in START, it allows net time to be calculated in an event. 

 

FINISH 

  • There must always be a point for the finish in an event. Only one point of this type can exist in each event.  
  • It will be the first reading recorded.  
  • In copérnico, it wil always be the last checkpoint in the setup table. 

 

STANDARD 

  • It will be the first reading recorded. 
  • We can set the distance for which the control point is located. 

 

CALL CAMERA 

  • Allows the display of times prior to the start.   
  • It will be the first reading recorded. 
  • In participants, this point will not appear in the list of viewed locations. 
  • You will be able to see the time before starting that event.
  • When a reading is received at this point, the status will change to running.

 

The “call camera” points will normally be used when you need to record the number of participants who are going to start the race prior to the starting gun. For example, in a triathlon where you need to know exactly how many participants are going to jump into the water.

 

In addition to the 4 types of points there is a fifth: Backup type point.   

 

 

Any control point can have a Backup configured.   

This option allows you to differentiate a second line of antennas that provides a reading to the main point, adjusting the passing time, if there is no reading on the first line.
