In a race you have to time by official time (from when the starting gun goes off), you may need to calculate trophies for the participants who have the best net time (from crossing the starting line to crossing the finish line).
Copernico lets you create trophies by net time or by official time.
1. Net time trophies for participants
Setting them up is very simple: follow the same steps as in the trophy configuration article.
- Go to Race, the race setup.
- In the event where you want to set them up, go to the Awards section.
- Give the trophy group a name (Group Name).
- Set up the trophies of that group. In the example image, trophies have been set up for the first 5 of each gender.
Each trophy has a calculation mode field (Result mode), shown once you choose the trophy type, to choose between official time (Gun time, the default) and net time (Chiptime).
- Once you have selected the net time calculation mode, these trophies will be set up for the first participants with the best net time.
You can also generate the trophies of a group with the wizard: open the three-dots menu of the trophy list (Award List) and choose Create.
Things to keep in mind
- In the same race and the same event, net time trophies and official time trophies can coexist.
- If you select the group's Non-cumulative awards check box (selected by default), no one can receive more than one trophy, and you can give official time trophies and net time trophies to different participants. Priority goes from top to bottom in the trophy list.
- Remember that trophies can be independent of category positions. That is, whenever there are non-cumulative trophies, the category rankings may differ from the trophies awarded.
An example of non-cumulative trophies would be trophies for the first 5 men and, separately, trophies for the first of each category. The winner would get the overall trophy but, as they are non-cumulative, would not get the category trophy, even after finishing first in it.
2. Team net time trophies
You can set up Copernico to calculate team trophies by the net time of each participant.
The setup is different from participant trophies, because the team calculation comes first. This means it must be set up before the trophies.
How is the calculation set up?
- Inside the event, open the Types of team section.
- Enter the team type name.
- Choose a time-based calculation type (for example, sum of times or time average).
- In Field for calculation, select net time (Chip time) instead of official time (Guntime).
- In the awards section, create a trophy of type Team type and choose that team type. The trophy also shows the Result mode field: set it to match the team type (Chiptime).
All the trophies you have set up will be visible both in the apps and in the documents you have created, for participants or teams.
