Starting a wave from Copernico

To start a wave from Copernico, you must first create it in the event, in Race setup (Waves block of each event). This is explained in Creating a wave.

If your event already has a wave, follow these steps to start it on race day.

  1. Click the stopwatch icon (Waves) in the right side menu. The Wave editor panel opens with the waves configured in the race; if several events have waves, each one has its own tab. Use the drop-down to show All status, only Pending waves or only Waves launched.

  2. Click the wave you want to start to expand it. Each wave header shows whether it is pending (stopwatch icon) or started (check mark), its name and its scheduled date and time.
  3. The wave clock shows the computer's current time and updates every second. To use a different time, click (or double-click) the time and type it: the clock stops while you edit it. Then click Start.

ℹ️ Note: in staged events, the panel shows the current stage at the top. If you start a wave of a later stage, Copernico asks whether to move the current stage forward (Current stage forwarding).
💡 Once the wave has started, its time is locked. To correct it, double-click the time and edit it (milliseconds are supported), or change the date in the selector above it, and click Modify.

Other ways to start a wave: Waves (GunTimes) from a TSOne or TS2. Signals generated with the macro button of the timing device can be checked in the Group signals panel; note that a signal does not start a wave in Copernico by itself. To follow the elapsed time of a wave, add the Wave clock widget to the Dashboard. Only participants whose start time mode is wave take their start time from here: see Start time mode selector - wave type.
