The Waves Detector helps you time events with several waves. Some participants often start in an earlier or later wave than the one they are assigned to. Copernico compares each participant's start time with the start time of their assigned wave, detects those who started in a different wave (earlier or later) and lets you move them, all at once, to the wave they actually started in.
Detection is based on the participant's start time. If a participant has no start time, it is not possible to tell whether they are in the correct wave.
1. How to use the Waves Detector
- Go to Participants and select the event in the header selector. With All events selected, nothing is detected.
- In the right side bar, click the warning icon (triangle) Waves Detector. It is only available in Copernico for timers, not in the organizer access.
If no participant started in a different wave, the panel shows the message “Everything seems to be fine! Good job!” and there is nothing to reassign. Otherwise, follow these steps:
- The panel groups the proposed changes: each block shows the original wave (From) and the detected wave (To), the maximum difference (Max gap, + if they started later, − if earlier) and the number of participants (click it to open Participants filtered by them). Expand a block to see each participant: bib, name and difference from their wave's start time. Use the search box to find a participant by bib or name.
- All proposed participants are selected. Clear the ones you do not want to change, one by one or with the block check box.
- Click Reassign. Copernico moves the selected participants to the detected wave.
The selected participants are now in the wave they actually started in.
