This article explains how to configure the timing devices of a Cloud V2 race: how to assign them to locations, how the time ranges work and how their status is shown in the CLOUD V2 widget and in the sidebar.
You can see a more extensive video explaining how Cloud V2 works in the following video:

1. Requirements
Devices for a Cloud V2 race are configured in the Devices tab of the race configuration. For the tab to be available:
- The race must use Cloud V2 (the default for new races). To change it, see How to switch Copernico to Cloud V2.
- The race must have at least one physical location: the tab is disabled until then.
2. Time ranges
When configuring a device in a location, keep in mind that there are time ranges.
This time range will also affect the visibility of active and non-active devices in the location.
There are 3 levels for the time range:
- Time range for the entire race. Explained below.
- Time range for a specific location (see section 4).
- Time range for a specific device (see section 4).
Time range for the entire race: the race readings reception period (Readings reception period start and Readings reception period end), configured on the race page (both are required; by default, 08:00 to 16:00 on the day of the first event).
This range limits all the other ranges: no device can export readings outside it, and once the race end time has passed, devices can no longer be assigned. The Devices tab shows it in the Filter block, read-only.
3. Assigning devices to locations
In the Devices tab, drag the device from the Available devices list (on the right, with a search box and a reload button) to one of the Locations. The list shows the devices of the company that owns the race.
The device will export readings to that location from that moment (or from the race start, if it has not arrived yet) until the race end. The same device can be assigned to several locations or several times.
- Move a device: drag it from one location to another. If its period does not run until the race end, Copernico asks whether to move it with Full time or Mantain Time Range.
- Remove a device: click the bin icon. If its period is in progress, it ends at that moment; if it has not started yet, it is deleted.
- Icons next to the device: the check icon means it has one period in this race; the warning icon, that it has more than one period; and the danger icon, that it has a period in another competition that overlaps this race (check it before the race). In the available devices list, devices that are already assigned also show their number of periods.
- Filter by event: the All events selector keeps active only the locations of one event (including backup locations); the rest are shown disabled.
- Deleted or renamed locations: if a location with devices is deleted or renamed, the devices appear under Orphan locations. Remove them with the bin icon and assign them again.
4. Editing the range of a location or a device
Once the devices are assigned, you can limit the period during which they export readings at location or device level.
Time range for a location
It is configured from the Devices tab, by clicking the pencil button in the specific location (tooltip Edit all devices simultaneously). It will affect all devices in that location.
A window opens with two date-time fields and a timeline slider, limited to the race range. When you click Save, all the devices in the location get the same range.
Time range for a device
At this level you can decide that a device is only visible and exporting during a specific time range. It is configured from the Devices tab, by clicking the pencil button on the device.
If the device has several periods in the same location, there is one row per period and each pencil edits its own.
5. What happens during the configured period
During the period that the device is configured in a location:
- It will send all received readings to the location where it is configured.
- It will be shown in the CLOUD V2 widget with the active devices filter (and as connected if the device is connected to the cloud).
- In the CLOUD V2 panel of the right sidebar, it will show the icon in green.
6. CLOUD V2 widget in the dashboard
There are some changes to the CLOUD V2 devices widget in the dashboard. From the settings wheel, besides filtering by event and location, you can filter by:
- Active devices: devices whose export is active, that is, whose configured time range includes the time at which you are viewing the information.
- All devices: all the devices configured in the race are shown, as long as they meet the other filters.
The CLOUD V2 widget applies the active devices filter by default: if you view the widget before any device's period has started, it will not show any devices.
It works as before: connected devices are shown in bold.
7. Device status in the sidebar
The status of the devices in the CLOUD V2 panel of the right sidebar has changed:
- Green: it just means that the device is within the time range for sending readings. It may or may not be connected to the cloud.
- Blue: configured in the location but not sending. It is not yet in the time range for sending readings. It may or may not be connected to the cloud.
- Gray: it was configured in that location. It may or may not have sent readings; if it did, they can be rewound. It may or may not be connected to the cloud.
Hover over the coloured dot to see the start and end of the period and the location it exports to.

Video 1: Devices configuration in Cloud V2
Within the race setup, in the Devices tab, I will be able to configure the devices at any of the locations set up in my race. To do this, I just need to select the devices from the list and drag and drop them onto the location. I can do this for all locations, leaving each one with its devices configured.
I can even repeat the selection of a device if necessary, with a notification that I've configured it in multiple locations. To configure the periods, I just have to go to the pencil and edit those of all devices in the location, or device by device. To do this, I will click and be able to select the start and end of the reading submission period.
I will have a notice when I have a partial configuration and when it is in the future and has not yet arrived. If the configuration has expired, I will also have a notice that it has already expired.
Video 2: New Cloud V2
Let's see how to set up the devices in our race using the new cloud. We should remember that the tag filter will continue to be done in Sportmaniacs and that we can select all the devices we have in our company from a list. The first change we see is that we now have a start and end for the device selection period [on screen, Readings reception period start/end]. Here we will mark when the selection period begins: for example, starting at 10:00 in the morning until tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon. We will need to allow some margin before and after our event so that the devices are set up in the different locations.
The next change is that we can create all the locations we are going to use in our event. In the example, I have created a 5,000 and a 10,000, and I have created start and finish: these are four locations that we can select in the different events. On the right, we will see that we have latitude and longitude. In the future, we will be able to configure the GPS position where the devices will be and, by using the device's GPS, position them in the different locations, but right now it's not necessary to configure it.
In the events, I will be able to go to the Timing points and select the locations without having to type the names, just selecting the ones we already created. If we need more locations or to repeat one, we would just need to select it in each event.
After this, we can go to the devices menu. In the devices menu, we will see the times set above for selecting devices and an event selector where we can filter to view only the locations of each event; for example, the 5,000. We'll configure the 10,000 for the example. To set up the different locations, I just need to search my list of devices for the ones I'll use, click on them and drag them to the point where they'll be configured. I will be able to configure the timing on my devices or by point; the setup is the same and the menu is the same. By selecting this start location for the 10,000, I can indicate when my device setup starts and ends. Let's imagine this race is tomorrow at 10:00 in the morning: I will be able to configure from tomorrow at the start of setup until approximately 12 noon and indicate when I want my race setup to end. All the devices at that point will be configured. I can set the timing directly on one of the devices if necessary.
The devices can be in multiple locations. In this case, I will repeat the same devices at the start and at the finish, and we will see the indicator change, showing how many points each one is set up at. Right now, this device is only configured at the start of the 10,000. When placing it at the finish line, I will get a notification that it is configured at multiple points, and I will be able to configure in the same way when this configuration starts and when it ends. In the case of the start, I can set it up after the start finishes until the end of the race. You can add all the devices that are necessary.
With this, I will have different information marking the points. Configurations that have passed will be marked as expired; those that are ongoing and shared across multiple locations, as partial; and those set for the future, as pending. In the menu on the right, we will see the same options through colors: in gray, the configurations that have already passed at that point; in green, those that are active; and in blue, those that are in the future. We will not make changes in this menu: here we can only pause or rewind. All necessary changes are made in the devices menu.
