In this video we show you how to assign bibs with the Workflows plugin.
Contents
1. Configure the query
To create a workflow that assigns a bib number, enter the workflow’s PIN. This PIN is the access key used by the race pack collection team.
In the Query section, choose the field Copernico should use to locate the participant. In this workflow, the search is performed using Registration with the Reg ID field, previously configured in the event.
The available query options are:
- Autofocus: automatically places the cursor in the next field after the search.
- Scannable: opens the device camera to scan a QR code.
2. Select displayed information
Once the participant is found, select the information that will be shown on screen. Typically this includes the participant and the category or age category.
3. Configure the workflow action
In the Action section, add an action field and select Bib in Field: this is the participant data that the workflow will modify.
4. Save and test the workflow
When everything is configured, click Save. Open the workflow and run a search using a valid Reg ID to confirm that the bib assignment is working properly.

We're going to set up a workflow to assign a bib number to a participant. First, click Add in the top corner. In this case, we're going to show you one we've already set up. First, select or add in the PIN number, which is like a password that we sent you, as well as the name of the workflow; in this case, "Assign a bib".
The next section is Query, which is the information you're going to search for. It has an AND or an OR condition. In this case, we're going to be searching for registration, and the field that we want Copernico to select is Reg ID. We created this field previously during our participant data import, during our race setup.
Next to the query there are two checkboxes. Autofocus refers to where your cursor will be placed after you complete the search; it's only necessary if you configure more than one query field. Next, Scannable implies that you want the camera to open automatically in order to scan a barcode or QR code. Keep in mind that you only need to check this box if your query field is actually scannable.
Next, you will select the information you want to pop up after you have searched your query. So if you're looking for a registration number, you might want the participant's name and surname to pop up. We're also going to add category, in some countries called age category.
And finally, select the action that you want to accomplish with your workflow. In this case, we want to assign a bib number. Go ahead and click save when everything is set up. Once you've saved your workflow, you can open it and test it out by typing in the data you're looking for.
