Import data of participants in races with accumulated rankings

In a race with accumulated rankings (multievent), participants are imported as in any other race, but the event each participant is imported into determines which stages they are entered in. This article is part of the series on multievent races (see Introduction to multi-event races).

Before importing, set up the race as a stage race, with its stages and its general event (see Setting up a race with sum of times from several events). The import works as for any other Copernico event (see Importing participants).

For example, you may have a file with the data grouped as follows:

The main difference is that participants imported into a general event automatically propagate to the events that have been added for the calculation of the general event.

For example, if the general event is calculated from 5 stages (Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4 and Stage 5), plus the "General" event, the participant with bib 101 will have been imported into 6 events: the 5 stages and the general event.

In Participants, the Events column shows which events each participant is entered in.

If the race has several general events, import each participant into the general event they take part in.

Also, although it is not usual, some participants may only run a specific stage, for example Stage 1. Import them directly into that stage: they will count in that stage's ranking, but not in the general ranking.

As an example, you may have an import file similar to this one:

In which:

• Bibs 101 and 102: take part in the general event and in all the events that make it up.
• Bibs 103 and 104: take part in the 3-day general event and in the 2 events that make it up.
• Bibs 105 and 106: take part in Stage 1 only.

To change a participant's stages afterwards (add them to a single stage, remove them from the general event while keeping one stage…), use Move to event, Copy to event or Advanced Options in the Participants context menu. Once the participants are imported, you can continue with the race Timing.
