Editing times

The time editor lets you change a participant's time at a timing point or add it manually when it is missing.

1. Opening the time editor

To open it, double-click the time (or the empty cell) of one of the participant's timing points in any of these tables:

  • the Participants table, in the timing point time columns;
  • the participant's Information panel (select only that participant, right-click them and choose Information);
  • the times table of the participant's readings page.

It also works in other participant time lists in Copernico.

2. The editor window

The Time editor of window opens, followed by the participant's name and bib, with their status. At the top, a drop-down lets you choose the timing point of the participant's event; it opens on the one you double-clicked. Below it:

  • In the first selector, choose how to view and enter the time: Guntime (from the start time), TOD (time of day), Chiptime (from the participant's start reading) or Previous timing point (only if that timing point has a time). In Guntime mode, if there are several possible waves, a second selector lets you choose the reference wave.
  • In the time field, enter the time (hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds).
  • Readings: lists the readings of the participant's tags at the location of that timing point (and its backups), with the tag, time, computed time (Computed) and location; in races with laps, also the timing point each reading was assigned to. Click a reading to use its time. Filters lets you narrow the list by time or location and show invalid readings (Show invalid).
  • Original and Resulting time: show the current time and the one that will be saved.

Click Save to save the change and close the window; Copernico shows the Success! message. The button is only enabled if the time has changed. If you close the window with unsaved changes, Copernico asks whether you want to save them.

3. Adding a missing time

If the participant has no time at that timing point, the editor starts from 0. You can enter the time, choose one of their readings or, if Copernico can estimate it, click Generate time: Copernico calculates a time based on the participants of the event with similar passing times. Check the Resulting time and save. More information in Automatically generating a participant's time.

In races with laps, if the time is in the wrong lap, see Correcting times in lap races.

4. Warnings: status and penalties

If the participant is in quarantine, disqualified or withdrawn, Copernico warns you before opening the editor; to continue, click Edit times anyway. More information in Athlete status.

If the participant has penalties or bonuses, the finish time shown in the editor already includes them (gavel icon); Copernico keeps applying them to the time you save. More information in Penalizing participants.

If the wave assigned to the participant does not match any wave of the event, or the timing point does not belong to their event, the window shows a message instead of the editor so that you can check it.
