Copernico Video: what it is and how it works šŸŽ„

Copernico Video is Timingsense’s solution for recording and live-streaming replays of your races, fully integrated with the Copernico timing system.

It enables video capture at different race points and automatically generates replays linked to each athlete, enhancing the experience both on the platform and in the Live app.

ā„¹ļø Note: This functionality removes the need for manual production, as replays are automatically generated from timing data.

Purpose

Copernico Video allows you to:

  • Broadcast live video-repeats from multiple race points.
  • Record video locally or via streaming.
  • Automatically generate replays linked to split times.
  • Watch videos in copernico and in the Live app.

How it works

Race setup and selection

  • The user logs into the Copernico Video app.
  • Selects the relevant company.
  • Chooses the race and control point (start, finish, or split).
  • Only active races (ā€œTodayā€ section) support live streaming.

You can find a quick start guide in the following article.

Recording modes

Copernico Video offers two operating modes:

  • Stream (online):
    • Automatically uploads video clips to the cloud.
    • Immediate availability in the Live app.
  • Local (offline):
    • Records without internet connection.
    • Clips can be uploaded later.
    • Recommended in low coverage areas.
āš ļø Important: Use local mode when connectivity is unstable to prevent data loss.

Replay generation

The system automatically synchronizes video with split times (Time of Day) recorded by the timing device.

  • Replays are automatically assigned to each athlete.
  • They are activated at split level in copernico.
  • They are displayed in:
    • The athlete profile in copernico.
    • The Live app for end users.

Thanks to the integration between video and timing, Copernico Video enables:

  • Automatic matching of each athlete with their camera pass.
  • Instant replay generation without manual intervention.
  • Improved event visibility and tracking.
