Copernico Video: what it is and how it works 🎥

Copernico Video is Timingsense's solution for recording and live-streaming video replays at sporting events, fully integrated with the Copernico timing system.

It captures video at different points of the race and automatically generates replays linked to each athlete, significantly enhancing the experience both on the platform and in the Live app.

1. Purpose

Copernico Video allows you to:

• Broadcast live video replays from different points of the event.
• Record video locally or via streaming.
• Automatically generate replays linked to split times.
• Watch the videos in Copernico and in the Live app.

2. How it works

Race setup and selection

• The user logs in to the Copernico Video app.
• Selects the relevant company.
• Chooses the race and the control point (start, finish or intermediate point).
• Only active races (Today tab) support live streaming.

3. Recording modes

Copernico Video lets you record in two ways:

• Streaming (online):
  • Generates clips that are automatically uploaded to the cloud.
  • Immediate availability for viewing in Live.
• Local Recording (offline):
  • Records without an internet connection.
  • Clips can be uploaded later.
  • Recommended in low-coverage areas.
  • Started from Local Recording in the app's bottom bar, without choosing a race; the recording is assigned to a race and uploaded later from the Unassigned tab.

Once you choose the race and location, the app offers Streaming and Live (live broadcast) modes. You will find the details in the Copernico Video app quick start guide.

How to choose:

• Offline recording (Local Recording): when you don't need to broadcast video replays live.
• Streaming: when you want video replays and the connection is not 100% guaranteed to be very fast.
• Live: when you want live video and video replays, and the connection is very fast. If the connection is not very stable, the broadcast may drop out.

4. Replay generation

The system automatically synchronizes the video with the split times (Time of Day) recorded by the timing device.

• Replays are automatically assigned to each athlete.
• They are enabled for each control point in Copernico.
• They are displayed in:
  • The athlete profile in Copernico.
  • The Live app, for end users.

5. Final result

Thanks to the integration between video and timing, Copernico Video enables:

• Automatic matching of each athlete with their camera pass.
• Instant replay generation without manual intervention.
• Improved event visibility and tracking.

Is there a cost?

Yes, enabling video replay in Copernico has an additional cost. Please contact the sales team for more information.

I recorded a video but did not enable Live mode

Don't worry. Once video replay is enabled, the video will appear both in the Live section and in the results.
