Copernico Video APP (Quick Start)

 

 

1. Installation and login

Download the Copernico Video app (Android only).

When you open the app, the login screen is displayed. Enter your registered email and password and tap Login. Default password: timingsense / copernico.

If you cannot log in, a bar with a login error message appears at the bottom of the screen.

The first time, you must accept the camera and microphone permissions.

 

2. Race list

After logging in, you reach the main screen, with four tabs:

• Today: races available for recording or live streaming.
• Future: races shown for information only, not yet available.
• Passed: recordings and streams made previously, one per row (you can upload the videos again). See Past recordings.
• Unassigned: recordings made without an assigned race (for example, from Local Recording), which are assigned to a race and uploaded later. If there are none, the tab shows a no-data message.

At the bottom of the screen there is a bar with four options: Company (see Company selection), Settings (see Settings), Local Recording (see Local recording) and Exit.

 

3. Company selection

As a Timingsense user, you may be registered with several companies. At the bottom of the screen, select the company you will be streaming for.

Tap Company in the bottom bar to open the Select company panel. The first option, All companies, is selected by default; the companies you are registered with are listed below it.

 

4. Settings

Tap Settings in the bottom bar. The Configuration panel opens, where you can see the app version (App Version) and change the device name (Device Name, with the pencil icon).

 

Watchdog Monitor (Live)

The third option in the Configuration panel, Watchdog Monitor (Live) ("View real-time recording health (your recordings)"), opens the Watchdog Monitor screen, which shows the status of your recordings. Apart from its title, this screen is displayed in Spanish:

• Filters: Todos (all), Activos (active) and Errores (errors), with the number of recordings in brackets, and Inactivos (inactive).
• One card per recording, with its status (for example, stopped, labeled INACT.), its age, an information button (ⓘ), the race and location, the name of the device that made the recording, the Chunk counter (number of chunks in the recording), the duration of the recording and the chunk counters:
  • Up arrow: chunks uploaded.
  • Hourglass: chunks waiting to be processed or sent.
  • Cross: chunks with errors.
• The retry button (Reintento (stop)), with the same counters. It is only available when there are pending chunks or chunks with errors: if there is nothing to process or send, it can't be used.
• At the bottom: the range of recordings shown (for example, "1-2 de 2"), the number of rows per page (Filas) and the pagination buttons.

Since each card shows the device that made the recording, recordings you made from other phones can appear on this screen.

 

5. Race and location selection

Select the race you are going to record or stream. Only races in the Today tab can be streamed. The event date is essential.

When you select the race, a menu opens to choose the location: start, finish, intermediate points, etc. These locations are the ones configured in Copernico.

 

6. Streaming mode selection

Once you choose the location, a window opens with the race and location name, the date and a selector with two working modes:

1. Streaming: clips are generated and automatically uploaded to the cloud (MUX). See Streaming mode.
2. Live: live broadcast (live video and video replays). See Live mode.

Local recording is not selected in this window: it is started from Local Recording in the bottom bar (see Local recording).

 

Which mode to choose

• Offline recording (Local Recording): when you don't need to broadcast video replays live.
• Streaming: when you want video replays and the connection is not 100% guaranteed to be very fast.
• Live: when you want live video and video replays, and the connection is very fast.

 

7. Streaming mode

With Streaming mode selected, configure the following in the Stream Recording Configuration block:

• Resolution
• FPS
• Adaptive Bitrate (Mbps): 4 Mbps recommended (adjusted automatically according to coverage)

Tap Start Stream Recording.

If there are no alerts, the messages should be as follows:

• Optimal device.
• Your device is configured for Stream

Tap Continue.

Select the orientation: on the next screen, choose portrait or landscape.

On the next screen, you can preview and adjust the camera.

Once you have adjusted the camera, tap Start to begin recording.

Once recording has started, the following information appears on the screen:

• Recording: indicates whether the device is recording.
• Duration: how long the device has been recording.
• Segment (Chunk): the number of segments in the video. It cannot be configured.
• Settings: indicates how often segments (chunks) are created. It cannot be configured.
• Reduced brightness: Copernico Video reduces the screen brightness to improve battery life.

To stop recording, tap Stop.

 

8. Live mode

With Live mode selected, configure the following in the Live Streaming Configuration block:

• Resolution
• FPS
• Bitrate (Mbps)

Tap Start Live Streaming.

 

9. Local recording

Local recording is offline recording without uploading to the cloud, ideal for points with little or no coverage. It is started from Local Recording in the bottom bar of the race list, without choosing a race or location.

A window opens with the title «Offline recording #…» (followed by a number) and the date and time. «Offline» means without a connection; it has nothing to do with the signals of the timing device. The window shows the notice «Offline recording — assign a race and upload later from the "Unassigned" tab.»: the recording stays in the Unassigned tab, where it is assigned to a race and uploaded.

In the Local Recording Configuration block, configure:

• Resolution
• FPS
• Bitrate (Mbps)

Tap Start Local Recording. To leave without recording, close the window with the X.

 

10. Start recording

Select the orientation: portrait or landscape.

 

Begin recording

On the next screen, the camera opens so you can start recording. Tap the blue button to start recording.

While recording, you can check:

• Battery level
• Connection type
• Recording mode
• Duration of the current clip

 

11. Past recordings

Once a recording is complete, it appears in the Passed tab. From there, you can upload the video to MUX with the Upload to Cloud button, perform other actions and check the status of the upload to the cloud (MUX).

Each row in the tab is a recording and shows:

• The date.
• The race and location, in the format «race--location». Local recordings start with «Local Recording - ».
• A lilac icon shaped like a grid with a plus sign, which opens the recording actions (see below).
• A status icon (green, yellow, red or orange).

Also, if you tap the lilac icon of a recording

a window opens with the recording name and date and different options for working with the videos (to close it without doing anything, tap the X):

• View video
• Reprocess chunks: chunks are the segments the video is divided into so that it can be “associated” with each participant.
• Upload pending chunks: if any chunks have not been uploaded to the cloud, you can upload them from this menu.
