This article explains how to connect to the TS2+ timing device via its internal Wi‑Fi network and how to configure an external Wi‑Fi network for use at sporting events.
Contents
Introduction
The TS2+ includes its own Wi‑Fi access point, allowing direct connection from a mobile phone, tablet, or computer 📱💻.
This connection is required to access the timing device’s web interface and to configure the external Wi‑Fi networks it will later connect to.
Important considerations
- The TS2+ is a router itself, so it can provide connectivity to other devices.
- Ethernet RJ45: a device with GSM/Wi‑Fi/Ethernet can provide internet to the TS2+ by connecting the cable to the IN port.
- Via Ethernet cable it can also provide internet to a PC.
- Wi‑Fi: thanks to its independent antennas, the timing device can connect to a Wi‑Fi network (office, MiFi, Starlink) and at the same time broadcast a network for other devices connected to it.
- On first startup, while the timing device does not have internet access, the devices connected to its Wi‑Fi will also have no browsing 🌐.
- It is recommended to use networks with good signal strength ✅.
Prerequisites
- The TS2+ timing device must be powered on and have sufficient battery.
- Mobile phone, tablet, or computer with Wi‑Fi.
- Be physically close to the device.
- Know the name and password of the external Wi‑Fi network to be configured.
Connecting to the TS2+ Wi‑Fi
- Open the Wi‑Fi settings on your device.
- Look for a network with a name similar to TS2P‑XXXX.
- Password: 12341234.
- Connect to the network.
- If the system indicates there is no Internet access, accept the connection anyway ⚠️.
Accessing the web interface
- Connect to the TS2+ Wi‑Fi.
- Open a web browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari…).
- Enter the following address:
http://ts2p.timingsense.com
The Dashboard will be displayed with information about connectivity, battery, temperature, and power source.
External Wi‑Fi network configuration
- Press the menu icon ☰.
- Select Wi‑Fi.
- Press SCAN AVAILABLE NETWORKS (it may be necessary to repeat).
- Select the desired network.
- Enter the password and confirm.
When the connection is correct, the status will change to Connected ✅.
Connection verification
- The Wi‑Fi section will appear as CONNECTED.
- The active connection interface will be indicated.
- The assigned IP address will be displayed.
Connection via RJ45 network cable
The TS2+ timing device uses dynamic IP to facilitate connection.
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the IN port.
- Access the dashboard from the device’s Wi‑Fi.
- Verify the assigned IP.
GSM connection
The TS2+ timing device allows internet connection via SIM card.
- Remove the microSIM tray.
- Insert the card.
- Verify GSM connectivity.
Connectivity priorities
Within the dashboard, the primary connection cannot be selected; there is a connection hierarchy:
- Ethernet: highest priority.
- Wi‑Fi: second priority.
- GSM / Mobile data: only if the above are not available.
