Creating splits allows you to control the rankings within them in the entire course or segments of it. You can create as many splits as you need and generate rankings in all of them.
We explain how to create splits in this article
You can also create disabled splits, where gaps in the split can be omitted from your rankings and the omitted areas will be be subtracted from the times registered for the visible sections.
To create a split with "gaps disabled," go to the race configuration menu and create a new split. The split should contain a sufficient number of control points for there to be gaps. Once the split has been created and contains the sufficient requirements you can see the option "split with gaps" on the left side.
Once you have marked the check "split with gaps," you will see "X"´s appear that permit you to disable gaps in that split.
Splits with gaps do not apply to the splits that contain the start and finish lines.
For example: in the image below you can see the same split. First is the split that encompasses the entire race from the start to the finish. On the other hand in the second split all of the sections labeled transition have been omitted from the time calculation.
With this configuration, you can have 2 very different rankings.
Any split created with gaps can still be used in trophies, participants, and presets. It can be used just like any other split.
The last thing to keep in mind is that at all control points the first gross time received is always used. This means that if a participant stops at the point and later continues, the first time they arrived at the point will be used for the calculation.
This is especially important in mountain descents in which sometimes participants stop at one of the points to later make coordinated starts for certain splits. If this is the case for your race, you can use multi-event timing.
